Join us on May 27th and 28th 18 , 2026 for the National Crime Victim Law Institute’s Annual Crime Victim Law Conference.
Justice At Last is partnering with one of our favorite service providers in Wisconsin, the Lotus Legal Clinic. Together, Erika Petty, Executive Director and Lead Attorney for the Lotus Legal Clinic and our very own Rose Mukhar, will review the purpose of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) while focusing on the specific rights afforded immigrant survivors who seek safety, protection, and repair. The presenters will then discuss the current erosion of these protections for immigrant survivors as the definition of “victim” is being reshaped and vastly limiting identities, including those victims with imperfect histories. They will discuss the increased scrutiny of survivors with criminal records and how the narrative of a “perfect victim” is exposing immigrant survivors to real threats of deportation and detention. This presentation will be hybrid.
