KARTHIK ARUMUGAM

CHAIR

Karthik is a seasoned tech executive of over 20 years of experience and is currently with Mitel, leading strategy and transformation initiatives. Previously, Karthik was with Polycom and Motorola, and has led Product Management, Strategic Planning, Product Marketing, Strategic Alliances, Corporate Development, and Engineering functions throughout his career.

 Karthik lives in Cupertino, CA with his wife and two kids, and holds an MBA degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management (Northwestern University) and an M.S. degree in Computer Science & Engineering from University of Illinois at Chicago.He strongly identifies with the foundational value that everyone is created equal and has the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness, which is the reason he is very excited to work with Justice At Last. He also believes in and loves working with children, investing in them to be better citizens of the future, and has been involved with Junior Achievement of NorCal, AYSO, and Asha for Education throughout his past. 

 

POUNEH GHAFFARIAN

SECRETARY

Pouneh Ghaffarian is an Attorney for the California Public Utilities Commission where she works on a range of energy, environmental, and environmental justice legal and policy matters. Prior to joining the state, she exclusively worked on political asylum litigation. She obtained her JD, with a specialization in international law, from Golden Gate University, MSA in Multinational Trade and Commerce from Boston University and her BA in Literature from UCSC. She is a member of the Energy Bar Association.

NATASHA LEE

TREASURER

Natasha Lee is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in non-profits. Currently, she serves as the Vice President for Finance and Administration at the Pacific School of Religion, where she plays a pivotal role in leading and managing the school's operations. In this essential role, Natasha oversees vital areas including human resources, information technology, facilities, and finance, ensuring the smooth and effective functioning of the institution.

Natasha blends her operational expertise with her strong commitment to social justice, reflecting her unwavering dedication to promoting fairness and equity through her work.  She embodies a leadership style focused on people, inspiring those around her with her enthusiasm for driving positive change.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Natasha is a Bay Area native who finds joy in spending time with her large extended family, traveling, and indulging in culinary explorations.

GLENN MANLONGAT

DIRECTOR

Glenn Manlongat is a Strategic Alliance Manager for an enterprise software company in the Bay Area. He provides customer engagement practices for startups and enterprise companies to increase awareness, engagement, and partnership networks. He is passionate about applying these same systems to non-profits and social services in order to extend their reach to the client’s they serve and their supporting network. He currently provides pro bono consultation services to a local non-profit to develop strategies enabling the organization to better utilize digital experiences to meet their community’s needs. He is excited to help build awareness on the justice and services available to empower trafficked victims.

Glenn has a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Kettering University and has experience working with engineering and marketing technology.

MERYL FRIEDMAN

DIRECTOR

Meryl Friedman is a non-profit governance and strategy professional who specializes in cross-sector collaborations and partnerships. Meryl is a Consultant at the Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit connecting organizations and small businesses to skilled volunteers. Meryl works at the intersection of nonprofit management and Corporate Social Responsibility, to increase access to resources for nonprofits nationwide.

Meryl holds an MPA in Public and Non-profit Management from the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service at New York University. While at Wagner, she specialized in social impact, innovation, and investment, with a focus on corporate social responsibility, strategic human-centered design, and ethical entrepreneurship.

 

SHAYA FATHALI

DIRECTOR

Shaya Fathali is the Senior Director, leading multiple businesses, in the Programmable Solutions Group at Intel Corporation.

She was also one of the founding members and the chair of Women@Altera (now Women in Intel), an employee resource group, started as a grassroots organization dedicated to employees’ career development and fair representation of women in technology.

Shaya received the 2020 YWCA Silicon Valley’s Tribute to Women Awards in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the workplace and beyond.

 

DEVIKA BOTEJUE

DIRECTOR

Devika Botejue is an Account Manager of Group Benefits in the private sector where she provides customizable health benefits assistance to small to mid-sized businesses in the SF Bay Area. Devika has 5 plus years of experience working with non-profits and state-run organizations and is currently a counselor for San Francisco Suicide Prevention.

 

NATASHA KESWANI

DIRECTOR

Natasha Keswani is a Bay Area native and an experienced attorney who specializes in commercial law, regulatory compliance, data ethics, and mergers and acquisitions. She has made significant contributions to renowned companies in the Bay Area throughout her career with extensive experience in the technology industry. Currently serving as Senior Counsel at Box, Inc., Natasha holds impressive academic credentials including a MSc in Regulation from The London School of Economics, a Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law, and a BA in Political Science from the University of California Berkeley.

 

SHERRIE FRIEDMAN

DIRECTOR

Sherrie Friedman is a member of the San Mateo County Private Defender Panel, she represents parents and children in juvenile dependency cases and probate conservatorship cases.   She is a guest lecturer on Juvenile Dependency Law and Legal Ethics at at University of California College of Law and Notre Dame de Namur College.

She serves on the Board of Directors of the San Mateo County Bar Association, served on the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Board for six years and is currently on the Governance Committee of the CASA Board.   She received her JD from University of San Francisco School of Law and MA in Counseling Psychology and BA in Psychology from Northwestern University, Evanston, IL.

 

ROSE MUKHAR

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

In addition to establishing Justice At Last in 2015, Rose has been and continues to be its CEO and Principal Attorney. Justice At Last has always been a non-profit law firm dedicated to providing free expert legal services to all trafficked persons, regardless of their age, sex, gender identity, abilities and supportive & equity needs, nationality or type of trafficking.

During the early years, Justice At Last’s clients were represented primarily by Rose and she would drive all over the San Francisco Bay Area to meet the clients where they were at. Her advocacy was encouraged and supported by her family, dear friends and staunch advocates from the anti-trafficking community. Within the first five years, Rose was recognized for her expertise representing trafficked persons and Justice At Last became known as the only legal service provider exclusively serving trafficked persons across 15 counties in the Bay Area.

Today, the Justice At Last team is growing and their impact is making significant changes in the courtrooms and in the lives of trafficked persons. The leadership of Justice At Last is creative and dedicated to seeing that survivors of human trafficking receive all the legal services they need to support their healing and recovery so they can achieve justice on their own terms.
