Those with the least amount of power experience the highest rates of violence. Like domestic violence survivors, trafficking survivors often suffer violence from those familiar and close to them. Would you recognize the signs and intersections? Often, a client is referred to Justice At Last by partnering organizations or a victim witness advocate where the survivor initially was identified as a domestic violence survivor while they also were a survivor of sex or labor trafficking. Understanding the connections between human trafficking and domestic violence is key to identifying root causes of gender-based violence. It is also critical in determining the rights and appropriate legal forms of criminal, civil, and immigration relief.
