As fireworks light up the sky this Independence Day, we’re reminded not only of America’s birth, but of the unfinished work still before us. July 4th marks a promise - one of liberty and justice for all. Yet, that promise has not always been fulfilled equitably or equally. Today, we recommit ourselves to the fight for: Justice that holds power accountable and defends the most vulnerable, Equality that treats all people with dignity under the law, Equity that acknowledges historical disparities & ways to correct them, and Liberty that ensures freedom is not a privilege, but a right for every person.
Independence was never meant to be static. It is a living value — something we build, protect, and extend each day. We serve clients facing human trafficking, sexual assault, gender based violence, workplace injustice, wage theft, consumer fraud, immigration challenges and other civil legal crises. Behind every case is a person seeking to live with dignity, safety, and opportunity. This is what liberty looks like in action and we know that the spirit of July 4th lives on in those who work toward a more perfect union. Why Our Work Matters on July 4th: While we celebrate the birth of our nation, we also recognize that the
struggle for equity under the law continues. True freedom requires more than fireworks — it requires access to legal protections, due process, a fair hearing, and advocacy for those whose voices have been silenced.
